# Connect Slack

Connect Slack for candidate introductions and interview coordination, then choose a shared channel or Finlay app DM for each job.

## Connect Slack

Connect Slack when candidate introductions or interview coordination should
reach your team in Slack. It is optional for creating a job; see
[Create your first job](https://help.finlay.ai/get-started/first-job/).

1. In **Integrations**, choose **Connect Slack** and approve Finlay in Slack.
2. Choose the **Notification channel** for candidate introductions and
   coordination updates: a shared channel or **Finlay app DM**.

You can also connect Slack during [sign-up](https://help.finlay.ai/get-started/sign-up/).

## Choose the notification channel

Pick the channel where Finlay posts candidate introductions and coordination
updates, or use **Finlay app DM**. A job can use a different **Job notification
channel** when that role needs a separate hiring conversation.

Finlay joins a public channel when you choose it. For a private channel, add
Finlay to the channel first, then choose it. If a channel is unavailable,
choose an accessible channel or **Finlay app DM**, or reconnect Slack.

Changing the channel affects future messages. Earlier posts remain in the
channel where Finlay sent them. See
